Of hip-hop’s five wealthiest artists, Andre “Dr. Dre” Young’s fortune is growing the fastest, soaring nearly 60% to 0 million over the past year. The boost came almost entirely from Beats By Dr. Dre, which he cofounded with Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine in 2008—and an even bigger payday could be in the offing. Last month, Beats announced the appointment of chief financial officer An De Vooght, who spent 16 years in a similar role at Red Bull after stints at Sony and Price Waterhouse. The move was seen by some as a potential indicator that Beats is preparing to follow Spotify down the road toward an initial public offering.
